Australian Book Review Inc. (referred to as ‘the Publisher’ throughout) offers access to ABR Online on the following Terms and Conditions. Please read this document carefully before proceeding. The Publisher reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions at any time. www.australianbookreview.com.au is referred to as ‘the website’ in this document.
ABR Online SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES
If you proceed and become an ABR Online subscriber, or if you purchase access to ABR Online for one month only, you acknowledge that:
ONLINE PAYMENT SECURITY
The ABR Online online subscription facility accepts payment by the credit cards VISA and MASTERCARD, and also by PayPal. The Publisher does not accept COD (cash on delivery). All prices listed are in Australian Dollars ($AUD) and include GST. ABR Online SUBSCRIPTION PERIODS
ABR Online subscribers will pay the relevant subscription prices in advance.
A one-year subscription is an agreement whereby the subscriber joins and has access to ABR Online for a period of 12 months (i.e. eleven issues). A one-year subscription gives subscribers full access to digital content, including any online back issues.
The Publisher will not invoice subscribers on a recurring basis. A renewal notice will be issued by email prior to the expiration of the subscription period. Subscribers will need to take action to confirm they wish to renew their current subscription.
PURCHASING ACCESS TO ABR Online FOR ONE MONTH ONLY
A subscriber can purchase access to ABR Online for a single month. A one-month subscription gives the subscriber access to ABR Online for thirty days.
Those subscribing for one month do not have access to any back issue content.
The Publisher will not invoice these subscribers on a recurring basis. Subscribers will need to purchase subsequent access separately.
REFUND POLICY
ABR does not give refunds.
GENERAL DISCLAIMERS
Use of ABR Online is at the subscriber’s own risk. The Publisher makes no representation or warranty about, or shall be liable, in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, for any direct, indirect, special or consequential loss, damages or reliance in connection with ABR Online, its use, its content or any products or services referred to in ABR Online or on the website. This includes (but is not restricted to) loss or damage you might suffer as a result of any of the following:
CONTINUED SITE AVAILABILITY AND ACCESS
The Publisher will do whatever it can to offer unbroken access to ABR Online and the website generally, but it cannot guarantee this. The Publisher reserves the right to alter fees for access to ABR Online.
COOKIES
ABR Online uses cookies. If you do not have cookies activated in your web browser, some functions of the site may not operate fully.
INDEMNITY
You indemnify the Publisher, its affiliates, employees, agents, contributors, third-party content providers and licensors from and against all actions, suits, claims, demands, liabilities, costs, expenses, loss and damage (including legal fees on a full indemnity basis) incurred or suffered by you or by us as a direct or indirect consequence of your accessing, using or transacting on this site or your attempts to do so or any breach by you or your agents of these Terms.

The material in ABR Online and on the website is protected by copyright under the Australian Copyright Act 1968 (the Act) and, through international treaties, in other countries. Copyright in articles and images appearing in ABR Online and on the website remains with each third-party contributor. INSTITUTIONAL ACCESS VIA IP ADDRESS AUTHORISATION
Access to ABR Online is available to any institutional subscriber via a fixed IP address or fixed IP range. It cannot be organised online.
These are the Terms and Conditions for institutional subscribers covering rights and limitations for IP address access to ABR Online. They are in addition to the Terms and Conditions above.
The Publisher grants IP address access to ABR Online to all Authorised Users on the following conditions:
‘Authorised Users’ are accredited current full and part-time students, employees (including faculty and staff), and other individuals permitted to use the computers on an institutional subscriber’s restricted site. For organisations situated in more than one city, each city office is considered a different site. For organisations within the same city that are administered independently, each office is considered a different site.
These Authorised Users may only access ABR Online while onsite at the institutional subscriber’s premises. Access to ABR Online is accessible only via a fixed IP address or fixed IP range; and ABR Online is not accessible remotely to Authorised Users off-site.
The institutional subscriber accepts the following guidelines:
Australian Book Review Online Edition is an enhanced version of the magazine accessible to subscribers on the Net. ABR OE can be read on any device with web-browsing capabilities, including desktop computers, laptops, iPads, tablets and smart phones.
ABR OE in no way replaces the print version. Everyone at ABR is committed to the print edition's long-term continuance. ABR OE is simply another version of your favourite literary magazine designed to reach new markets.
Access to ABR OE is available by annual subscription, or by purchasing single issues (one month access). Subscribers have full access to digital content, including back issues, extended information on contributors, and can comment on articles.
A useful way of thinking about it is as a subscription to ABR on the Internet.

Current ABR print subscribers may add-on access to ABR OE. An add-on ABR OE subscription lasts until the end of the print subscription period, after which subscribers can renew both subscriptions, or renew their print or ABR OE subscription separately. Adding ABR OE to current print subscriptions beyond 2011 incurs an additional $20 per year. Print subscriptions cannot be refunded in preference for ABR OE.
