Cole Baxter
Noongar man Cole Baxter was born and raised on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. Cole is drawn to observational photography and is actively engaged in community events. Cole is regularly seen documenting rallies and other political demonstrations in Boorloo/Perth. He won the Overall Award (Acquisitive) at the Melville Art Awards in 2023. Ngaluk Waangkiny (Us Talking), a book that explores the legacies of the Noongar elders on the City of Perth council, features Cole’s images. Since 2022, Cole has undertaken work for Magabala Books and in 2023 was a resident with the Fremantle Arts Centre, based at the Moores building in Fremantle.
