John J. Bradley
John Bradley is an Associate Professor at Monash Indigenous Studies Centre, Monash University. He has worked for forty-four years as a researcher and collaborator with the Yanyuwa, Marra and Garrwa people of the Gulf of Carpentaria in the Northern Territory. His research concerns knowledge and ways of understanding Australia that sit contrary to the normal colonial narratives. He has written a number of books including the award-winning Singing Salt Water Country. He is also the head of Wunungu Awara: Animating Indigenous Knowledges, that uses animation to facilitate cross-generational learning in Indigenous communities where languages are critically endangered. He speaks three Indigneous languages: Yanyuwa, Garrwa and Kriol.
